The Ladies of Laughter started out as an annual videotape comedy competition in New York to honor a fellow woman in comedy who helped women get their start. Since its inaugural year when the contest went live in a YWCA in New Jersey, The Ladies of Laughter contest has visited national historic theaters and legendary venues, including Caesars and Madison Square Garden. Past participants include Amy Schumer, Tammy Pescatelli, and Melissa Rauch (Big Bang Theory), and it has steadily become known in the comedy world as a career builder for women in comedy.
Filmed live at the Barbican in London, this major new 5-star production of the classic musical comedy features an all-star cast led by renowned Broadway royalty Sutton Foster reprising her Tony Award-winning performance as Reno Sweeney, alongside three-time Olivier Award and Tony Award winner Robert Lindsay (My Family), Evening Standard Theatre Award winner Felicity Kendal (The Good Life) and beloved West End Legend Gary Wilmot (Chicago).
"All Sorts," a movie about a lonely data entry clerk who stumbles into the world of championship folder filing, is a quirky comedy about finding magic in everyday life. Director J. Rick Castañeda will be in attendance for a Q&A following the screening.
The Automat is a documentary film about the phenomena of Horn & Hardart, America’s original & most beloved restaurant chain in NYC & Philadelphia. Featuring an original new song written and performed by Mel Brooks, The Automat tells the 100-year story of the iconic restaurant chain Horn & Hardart, the inspiration for Starbucks, where generations of Americans ate and drank coffee together at communal tables. From the perspective of former customers, entertainer Mel Brooks, Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Secretary of State Colin Powell, the Horns, the Hardarts, and key employees - we watch a business climb to its peak success and then grapple with fast food in a forever changed America.
Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Live Cinema screening of The Royal Opera's current production of "Rigoletto," on Wednesday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m. Verdi’s thrilling opera pits power against innocence, beauty against ugliness. This special anniversary screening (filmed in September 2021) of Verdi’s "Rigoletto," conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano, celebrates 171 years since its premiere in 1851.
Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Power House Movie screening of the music-infused drama Thin Skin on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Several of the filmmakers will be in attendance for a live Q&A following the screening, including director and co-screenwriter Charles Mudede, lead actor and co-screenwriter Ahamefule J. Oluo, and co-screenwriter Lindy West (Shrill).
Last July, the 5th Annual Walla Walla Movie Crush festival of short cinema presented 117 short films over the course of three days. This "Best of" event will feature the majority of the award winners and is a great introduction to the annual festival. Similar in format to the full festival, three blocks of films will be presented with short breaks in between to stretch and grab a drink from the bar.

Gesa Power House Theatre presents Seattle Rock Orchestra performing a brand new concert of music by Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Both friends and contemporaries, Cline popularized the "Nashville Sound" and reached new technical and expressive heights in country singing, while Lynn challenged audiences with lyrics that were fearlessly autobiographical and often controversial for the time.

"All Ages Show" is a new documentary film about the history of the music scene in Tri-Cities, Washington, that began in the mid-1980s and continues today. While Seattle's music scene, was changing the world in the early 90s with "grunge," Tri-Cities had its own thriving music scene inspired by Washington DC Hardcore, a scene that many didn't think could exist in a smaller community.
