After release from prison, Nick is trying to walk a straight line by taking care of his father, Pop, who's forgotten what a lousy dad he once was. When Nick is reunited with his 11 year-old daughter Edie (who insists she's now Eddie) and his ex-wife, Vick (who's engaged to a woman), this ragtag team of bulletproof misfits has to relearn everything they know about what makes a family.

"Beyond the Glass" was produced by Whitman College graduate Jackson Clough about local residents Rick and Mosseta Brown, who operate a local boxing club for at-risk youth in the area. When Rick Brown emerged from decades of drug addiction and run-ins with the law, he was determined to forge a new path forward as a productive citizen. He and his wife opened Rick's Boxing Club in College Place, where they strive to give kids an alternative to getting involved with drugs and gangs. 

As teenagers, kung fu disciples Danny (Alain Uy), Hing (Ron Yuan), and Jim (Mykel Shannon Jenkins) were inseparable. They trained together, fought together, and planned to become the next great martial arts masters. Life, as they say, had other plans. Fast forward 25 years, and each has grown into a washed-up, middle-aged man, seemingly one kick away from pulling a hamstring - and not at all preoccupied with thoughts of martial arts or childhood best friends. But when their old master is murdered, the trio reunites, soon learning that avenging their sifu will require conquering old grudges (and a dangerous hitman still armed with ample knee cartilage) if they are to honorably defend his legacy.

Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Power House Movie screening of the 2021 short documentary film "Takeover" on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. "Takeover" takes place during the twelve historic hours on July 14, 1970, in which fifty members of the Young Lords Party stormed the dilapidated Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx, drove out their administrative staff, barricaded entrances and windows, and made their cries for decent healthcare known to the world.

"All Sorts," a movie about a lonely data entry clerk who stumbles into the world of championship folder filing, is a quirky comedy about finding magic in everyday life. Director J. Rick Castañeda will be in attendance for a Q&A following the screening.

The Automat is a documentary film about the phenomena of Horn & Hardart, America’s original & most beloved restaurant chain in NYC & Philadelphia. Featuring an original new song written and performed by Mel Brooks, The Automat tells the 100-year story of the iconic restaurant chain Horn & Hardart, the inspiration for Starbucks, where generations of Americans ate and drank coffee together at communal tables. From the perspective of former customers, entertainer Mel Brooks, Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Secretary of State Colin Powell, the Horns, the Hardarts, and key employees - we watch a business climb to its peak success and then grapple with fast food in a forever changed America.

Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Power House Movie screening of the music-infused drama Thin Skin on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Several of the filmmakers will be in attendance for a live Q&A following the screening, including director and co-screenwriter Charles Mudede, lead actor and co-screenwriter Ahamefule J. Oluo, and co-screenwriter Lindy West (Shrill).

Last July, the 5th Annual Walla Walla Movie Crush festival of short cinema presented 117 short films over the course of three days. This "Best of" event will feature the majority of the award winners and is a great introduction to the annual festival. Similar in format to the full festival, three blocks of films will be presented with short breaks in between to stretch and grab a drink from the bar.

"All Ages Show" is a new documentary film about the history of the music scene in Tri-Cities, Washington, that began in the mid-1980s and continues today. While Seattle's music scene, was changing the world in the early 90s with "grunge," Tri-Cities had its own thriving music scene inspired by Washington DC Hardcore, a scene that many didn't think could exist in a smaller community.
