Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Live Cinema screening of Riverdance: 25th Anniversary Show on Wednesday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m.
In 1996, seven minutes changed the face of Irish dancing forever. The Eurovision interval act performance gave millions of people a new and exciting glimpse of the future of Irish dance. Twenty-five years later, composer Bill Whelan has rerecorded his mesmerizing soundtrack while producer Moya Doherty and director John McColgan have completely reimagined the ground-breaking show with innovative and spectacular lighting, projection, stage and costume designs. This powerful and stirring reinvention of the beloved family favorite is celebrated the world over for its Grammy Award-winning music and the thrilling energy of its Irish and international dance. Filmed live in 2020 at the 3Arena Dublin, the exact spot where it all began, the 25th Anniversary Gala Performance brought Riverdance to the big screen for the very first time, and we are pleased to be able to offer an encore screening of this event.
Filmed during a live event, the Live Cinema Series broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house, with incredibly detailed close-ups of the performers. The Live Cinema Series is sponsored in part by Shakespeare Walla Walla.
This screening has an approximate runtime of 2 hours, including an on-screen introduction and one short intermission. Beer, wine, popcorn, and snacks will be available for purchase, and may be taken into the theater.
General admission tickets ($15 adults, $10 students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
The Live Cinema Series is supported by Shakespeare Walla Walla, a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that aims to make Shakespeare and theater approachable and entertaining to students in eastern Washington and Oregon.
