Shakespeare Walla Walla presents the Fourth Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival at Gesa Power House Theatre Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23. This free, family-friendly event is a collaboration between many local businesses and community partners, and is inspired by the Hispanic “Day of the Dead” holiday where people throughout Latin America gather to celebrate the lives of departed friends and family.
The festival begins on Saturday with a downtown procession and a concert at the Power House, and continues all day on Sunday with the popular “Steamroller Print Project” by the Whitman College Art Department and a variety of free activities, from face-painting, to live music, dance, and theater.
The street in front of Gesa Power House Theatre will be closed to accommodate the festival on both days (6th Avenue from Rose to Sumach). Admission to the Fourth Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival and all activities are free and open to the public. Food vendors will be setup nearby.
