SUMMARY:Rosie Cerquone and Co. (free concert)
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Rosie Cerquone and Co. – live in concert in front of the theatre – on Saturday\, September 18 at 4:30 p.m. Admission to this family-friendly event is free! \n \nRosie Cerquone and Co. is a celebration of percussion\, songwriting\, and modern music performance. Rosie is a classically trained percussionist that never got over her wannabe pop star phase–so she decided to combine her two dreams into a genre she calls “pop percussion.” With the help of project collaborator and drummer\, Haydn Halsted\, they present Rosie’s intricate and honest melodies to listeners through voice\, vibraphone\, drums\, and electronics.\n\nRosie’s music explores stories of loss\, love (for others and yourself)\, and self-discovery. Musical influences include jazz\, indie rock\, and pop. Lyrically\, her songs explore everything from loss to self discovery to empowerment. Rosie Cerquone and Co. creates a sonic experience full of reflection and joy.\nThis concert is part of a new Patio Pulse series\, which is all about enjoying local and regional talent in a safe outdoor setting appropriate for all ages. Folding chairs will be provided\, but patrons are welcome to bring their own chairs. The street will be closed to vehicle traffic. Concessions (beverages\, popcorn\, and snacks) will be available for purchase. \nRosie Cerquone and Co. was previously scheduled to perform in August as part of the Walla Walla Summer Stage Festival – now rescheduled to 2022. \n\nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales? SUMMARY:Don Reed in "East 14th"
DESCRIPTION:Northwest Public Broadcasting and Gesa Power House Theatre present actor-comedian Don Reed in his critically-acclaimed one-man show East 14th on Saturday\, September 25\, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. \nGrowing up in Oakland\, California\, Don Reed’s mother and stepfather raised him to be a middle-class\, straight-A\, God-fearing church boy\, but Don Reed wanted to be like his biological father. Too bad he didn’t know that dear old dad was an actual pimp. \n“Hilarious!”\n– The New Yorker \n“Unexpectedly touching.”\n– San Francisco Chronicle \nDon Reed has written\, performed\, directed\, and produced five solo shows in New York City\, San Francisco\, Oakland\, Berkeley\, and Los Angeles. His flagship show East 14th was so popular in Berkeley\, it was extended 22 times\, and spurred the opening of a second Marsh theater\, where it ran for an additional 18 months. The show earned Reed the 2016 TBA: Theater Bay Area Award for Outstanding Production of a Solo Show and an NAACP Double Nominee for Best Actor & Best Playwright\, and in 2016\, he won the Performance of the Year award on NPR’s “Snap Judgement” with an excerpt from East 14th titled “I Miss Toni.” \n“Nobody does what Don Reed does. The Brother is quite simply amazing\, versatile & hilarious.”\n– Academy Award Winner Jamie Foxx \nDon Reed is currently playing one of the lead roles in the Amazon Prime comedy series Bartlett\, co-financed and with recurring role by Lin Manuel Miranda – composer/creator of the Broadway smash Hamilton. Reed is also currently producing Robert Townsend’s solo tour de force Living the Shuffle. \nDon Reed’s memorable performance on an HBO Partners and Crime special of up-and-coming comedians years ago caught the attention of Hollywood and led to many recurring and guest starring roles. You may have heard his voice on: Spiderman\, Johnny Quest\, SNL\, and most recently as the voice of the cat on 2 Broke Girls. Additionally\, Don has written\, directed\, produced and starred in short films for HBO Shorts\, and can be seen on Netflix in the feature film Unleashed alongside stars from Showtime’s Shameless. Reed was the opening act/warm-up comedian for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for more than 1\,000 episodes\, and recently shared an excerpt story from East 14th – on NPR/WYNC’s Snap Judgment so compelling that it will be woven into the graduate writing curriculum at American University in Washington D.C. \nReserved seating tickets ($40) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. Please review our current health and safety precautions\, including required mask use. Ticket holders will receive an email during the week before the show with any updates. \n\nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales?
