SUMMARY:Kate and the Crocodiles - Benefit for The Health Center
DESCRIPTION:Kate & The Crocodiles will perform a concert at Gesa Power House Theatre on Saturday\, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:00. Please join us before the show. Proceeds will benefit The Health Center. \n \nKate & The Crocodiles are a Portland-based quartet who perform stunning indie rock originals and covers\, early jazz and jazz standards\, reinventions of ‘70s and ’80s rock as ballads\, classical art songs mixed with rock (yes really)\, and other surprises from far and wide. If the spectrum sounds broad\, it is all held together by a signature sound informed by classical training and a respectful blending of many genres. It’s like a warm conversation with a few good friends — good friends who just happen to like music as diverse as they are. When people ask what genre the band is\, they say they couldn’t possibly choose just one. So the sky is the limit! It’s like nothing you’ve ever heard. An evening with Kate & The Crocodiles has been called “A perfect combination of musical talent and intimate\, unforgettable entertainment.” \nKate & The Crocodiles are: \n\nKate Morrison – a refreshing and innovative\, classically-trained female vocalist with deep roots in Walla Walla who has recently performed as a guest vocalist with Pink Martini and the Utah Symphony.\nCraig Bidondo – a colorful\, energetic\, and soulful keyboardist\nGavin Bondy – the intuitive trumpeter of Pink Martini\nBrent Follis – a truly world-class\, globe-trotting drummer\n\nReserved seating tickets ($35) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. A small number of VIP tables (for four people) are also be available for $200 (includes a bottle of wine and stage-side seating). Let your friends know you are going and invite them on Facebook! \nSince 2009\, The Health Center has improved the academic and life success of thousands of students across campuses in the Walla Walla School District by providing on-site\, no-cost\, physical\, mental and coordinated health care services. The Health Center was the first school-based health center to open in Eastern Washington and remains the only facility that operates as a non-profit. The Health Center operates clinics inside Lincoln High School\, Walla Walla High School\, Pioneer Middle School\, Blue Ridge Elementary\, and HeadStart/ECEAP Preschool producing documented improvements in the academic and life success of participating students.

SUMMARY:Raiz de 4 - Casa Patas Flamenco
DESCRIPTION:Flamenco Foundation and Conservatory Casa Patas presents “Raíz de 4” at Gesa Power House Theatre on Tuesday\, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. \nCreated by and starring Rafael Peral and Marisa Adame\, “Raíz de 4” was born out of the admiration and esteem for Flamenco by delving into its most primitive roots\, those very origins which evoke the convergence of cultures and the folklore of Spain. The purest styles of flamenco – some of which are: romances (ballads)\, martinetes\, fandangos\, and soleares – are brought into the forefront in a performance made up of a cast of distinguished artists. Song (cante)\, dance (baile)\, guitar (guitarra)\, and percussion (percusión) come together on stage in a most natural fashion\, while they convey a genuine love for this art form and take the audience on a simple and unswerving journey of feelings\, sensations\, and emotions. \n \nThe Casa Patas Flamenco Foundation and Conservatory came into being in the year 2000 with the objective of becoming a center that brings together the activities related to the study\, teaching and promotion of Flamenco: cante (song)\, toque (the guitar and other instruments)\, and baile (dance). To this end\, one of our chief goals is to disseminate this art form (hailed by UNESCO in 2010\, as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity)\, throughout Spain and the rest of the world. The Casa Patas Foundation and Conservatory organizes performances\, master classes\, and intercultural activities in Spain and abroad. A large variety of artists grace the Casa Patas stage every week for a total of more than 300 performances in any given year. In addition\, the Foundation regularly sponsors and coordinates performances at theaters\, festivals and cultural centers throughout the world. \nReserved seating tickets ($36) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
