When she threatens to expose him\, he tells her that no one would believe her. \nShakespeare wrote this play in the early 1600s\, yet it remains astonishingly resonant today. DESCRIPTION:The Northwest Theater Project presents the live theatrical premiere of Cultivating the Queen on Saturday\, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Gesa Power House Theatre. \nCultivating the Queen is an irreverent and comical examination of the female bawdy politic\, in which a secret society investigates how Queen Elizabeth I was able to maintain power in a man’s world. Drawing on text from Shakespeare’s canon\, this new play looks at the complications faced by women in power. \nCultivating the Queen is a new play in development\, devised and directed by the Northwest Theater Project’s founding member\, Whitman College Professor of Theater Christopher Petit. The production is made possible by the Louis B Perry Summer Research Endowment and the Parents Fund for Student-Faculty Research at Whitman College and through a residency at Gesa Power House Theatre. \nThe Northwest Theater Project is a collective of theater artists working in the Northwest\, committed to creating innovative and original theater\, generating and promoting new dramatic material\, and exploring individual and collective theatrical visions. DESCRIPTION:There is only one classic Batman and his name is Adam West. Growing up on a wheat ranch just outside of town\, Adam West was always proud of his beginnings in Walla Walla. Come celebrate the legacy of our hometown hero with a FREE screening of the critically-acclaimed documentary “Starring Adam West” at 6:30 p.m. at Gesa Power House Theatre. This event free is part of the 3rd Annual Adam West Day celebration. \n \nAdam West was born in 1928 in Walla Walla as William West Anderson. He grew up in what was then a tiny southeastern Washington farming community\, before moving to Seattle at age 15. After graduating from high school\, though\, he returned to Walla Walla and graduated from Whitman College. \nIn 1959\, he changed his name to Adam West and began his acting career\, famously portraying Batman in the 1960s television version of the comic book hero. Though he moved away from Walla Walla\, he returned frequently throughout his life. \nFree admission to the screening of “Starring Adam West” is limited and first come\, first served.
