SUMMARY:Preserved
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre proudly presents PRESERVED on Wednesday\, October 15\, 2025\, at 7PM. \nIn an era of wildfires\, drought\, and species decline\, Vermejo is proof that ecosystem restoration is possible. And it’s a blueprint for where it can happen next. PRESERVED is more than a film—it’s a call to action. From farmers and ranchers to hikers and hunters\, we all have a role to play.\n\nFor nearly 175 years\, the Southwestern United States has seen civilizations rise and fall\, leaving behind landscapes stripped by time and industry. Northern New Mexico’s 560\,000-acre Vermejo is one such place—a land rich with history\, from dinosaurs and early Indigenous communities to homesteaders\, a conservation-minded grain baron\, and Hollywood’s glitterati seeking outdoor recreation. But modern times took their toll\, leaving it overgrazed and scarred by mining. \nIn 1996\, Ted Turner bought the land as part of his work to restore and protect lands across the United States. A dedicated team began to work to heal the land\, transforming it into a thriving sanctuary. Today\, Vermejo stands as a testament to what’s possible: biodiversity restored\, landscapes reborn\, and a model for global conservation. \nShot over 130+ days in breathtaking cinematography\, PRESERVED unveils this hidden paradise\, capturing ancient archaeological wonders and unseen wildlife behaviors—bears stealing mountain lion kills\, microscopic worlds thriving in water-filled potholes\, and animals adapting to a changing planet. Scientists\, ranchers\, and visionaries come together to revive a landscape once thought lost\, with voices like media mogul Ted Turner\, leading conservationist Kris Tompkins\, and renowned author Craig Childs. \nThis program is supported\, in part\, by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.  \nReserved tickets will be available for $15 ($10 for students) on August 15th\, either online or via the Box Office at 509-529-6500. SUMMARY:Checkpoint Zoo
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre proudly presents CHECKPOINT ZOO on Wednesday\, October 29\, 2025\, at 7PM. \nCheckpoint Zoo documents a daring rescue led by a heroic team of zookeepers and volunteers who risked their lives to save thousands of animals trapped in a zoo behind enemy lines during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.\n\nOn February 24\, 2022\, Russia invaded Ukraine\, starting the worst war Europe has seen in over 50 years. In the early days of the invasion\, some of the fiercest fighting was on the outskirts of Kharkiv\, Ukraine’s second – largest city. On one side was the advancing Russian Army\, on the other side the\ndefending Ukrainian Army. And in between them was a zoo… called Feldman Ecopark. \nMore than just a sanctuary for animals\, Feldman Ecopark offered countless community programs from animal therapy to charity events for children with special needs. It was a cultural center for Kharkiv’s 1.4 million citizens\, unfortunately positioned less than 30 kilometers from the Russian border. When the invasion started\, Kharkiv turned into a battleground\, and the staff was forced to flee Ecopark\, leaving 5\,000 animals trapped in between the Russian and Ukrainian frontlines. Both sides were firing on each other\, and everything that fell short landed in Feldman Ecopark. But that wasn’t enough to stop several brave zookeepers from venturing back into the park time and time again to continue caring for the surviving animals. When two zookeepers were killed\, four\nvolunteers appeared on Feldman’s doorstep\, ready to help in any way they could. \nAs the war continued\, and the shelling increased\, it was clear that even the incredible bravery of the zoo staff wouldn’t be enough to save the animals. The zoo’s founder\, Oleksandr Feldman\, posted a desperate plea to social media asking for help. Miraculously\, the post went viral\, and zoos from across Ukraine and all of Europe volunteered to house the remaining animals. \nEncouraged by the response\, the zoo staff and these volunteers resolved to do the impossible – they would sneak back into Feldman Ecopark and evacuate thousands of animals\, including many dangerous predators\, and bring them to safety. In doing so\, they put themselves in incredible danger\, risking their lives to save innocent animals. \nWorking from footage captured by the zookeepers\, volunteers\, news media\, and himself on his own trip to Ukraine\, filmmaker Joshua Zeman tells the moving\, suspenseful\, and powerful story of these real – life heroes. The film details the initial attack\, the efforts to continue tending to the trapped animals\, the hair – raising evacuation\, and tragically\, the price these volunteers paid to do the right thing. \nThe zookeepers and volunteers of Checkpoint Zoo show us the absolute best of humanity at a time when it is all too easy to focus on the worst. In the face of violence\, destruction\, and cruelty\, this film is a testament to the power of compassion\, empathy\, and sacrifice. \nThis program is supported\, in part\, by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.  \nReserved tickets will be available for $15 ($10 for students) on August 15th\, either online or via the Box Office at 509-529-6500. SUMMARY:Little Watts: The Zaniac
DESCRIPTION:On November 2nd at 2 PM\, Gesa Power House Theatre proudly presents the family-friendly show\, The Zaniac! \nWhen was the last time you laughed as hard as your kids? \nWith captivating amounts of energy\, Alex Zerbe moves like a rubber band from one end of the stage to the other. During the show vegetables are sliced in half by flying playing cards\, flaming torches and bowling balls are juggled with ease\, and every audience volunteer leaves the stage in triumph. \nA self-described “human cartoon\,” his show isnʼt only for the kids in the family. “I try to make my show like the movie Shrek\, super entertaining for the kids but there’s a whole other level of comedy for teens and adults\,” says Zerbe. Formerly of the award-winning duo Brothers from Different Mothers\, Zerbe is a Hacky Sack World Champion\, was voted The Pacific Northwest’s Funniest Prop Comic and is currently ranked Seattle’s 3rd Best Air Guitarist. Heʼs performed everywhere from cruise ships and comedy clubs to prime-time television in three countries\, including “Americaʼs Got Talent!” and “Last Comic Standing.” \n \nTickets ($12 for adults\, $8 for children 12 and under) will be available on August 15th\, either online or via the box office (509-529-6500). SUMMARY:The Last Class
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre proudly presents THE LAST CLASS on Wednesday\, November 12\, 2025\, at 7PM. \nThe Last Class is a nuanced and deeply personal portrait of master educator Robert Reich teaching his final course and reflecting on a period of immense transformation\, personally and globally. It is a love letter to education. The former Secretary of Labor might be famous for his public service\, best – selling books\, and viral social media posts\, but he always considered teaching his true calling. Now\, after over 40 years and an extraordinary 40\,000 students\, Reich is preparing for his last class. \nOver the course of the film\, Reich confronts the impending finality\, and his own aging\, with increasing candor\, introspection\, and\, ultimately\, emotion. He displays a rawness of feeling he has never shared publicly before. Drawing on his lifetime in politics\, he uses his class\, “Wealth and Poverty\,” to offer us all a deeper look at why inequalities of income and wealth have widened significantly since the late 1970s\, and why this poses dangerous risks to our society. \nOne thousand students fill the biggest lecture hall on the UC Berkeley campus\, the last class to receive Reich’s wisdom and exhortations not to accept that the world has to stay the way it is. His belief in the next generation’s ability to take on the fight is inspiring. \n \nReserved tickets are available for $15 ($10 for students)\, either online or via the Box Office at 509-529-6500. DESCRIPTION:Pigs on the Wing return to the Gesa Power House Theatre on Saturday\, November 15\, the second show of their two-night residency. \nPigs on the Wing’s 2025 tour will be two back to back nights of incredible entertainment. Join us Saturday as we close out a two-night Pink Floyd experience with Pigs on the Wing’s cover of Wish You Were Here. Wish You Were Here is the album Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has most frequently cited as his pick for favorite Floyd album and it has consistently been a Pigs on the Wing favorite to perform. Soaring\, ethereal lead guitar work and expansive songwriting highlighted a rock band at the absolute top of its game – expect Pigs on the Wing to capture the sense of that majesty and psychedelic intensity in the intimate environment of the Gesa Power House Theatre! \nFrom its garage-rock roots in 2006 as a one-off show to full-album productions to performing for\nthousands of fans each year\, Portland-based Pigs on the Wing have built a loyal following dedicated to the band’s high-energy take on Pink Floyd’s music. All members of Pigs on the Wing are seasoned veterans of the Pacific Northwest rock scene and are unapologetic in bringing their wide-ranging musical influences to the table. \nThis tour celebrates Pigs on the Wing’s 20th anniversary as a band. From its garage-rock roots in 2006 as a one-off club show\, to hundreds of shows and thousands of miles in the van and on the road\, to immersive multimedia productions in top venues throughout the West Coast\, Portland Oregon-based Pink Floyd\ntribute Pigs on the Wing has built a loyal following dedicated to the band’s high-energy take on Pink Floyd’s music. All members of Pigs on the Wing are seasoned veterans of the Pacific NW rock scene and are unapologetic in bringing their wide-ranging musical influences to the table. Setting the band aside from other tribute-rock acts\, Pigs on the Wing balance a decidedly un-tribute-like attitude towards the music with the precision and authenticity expected by Pink Floyd fans. \nSetting the band aside from other tribute rock acts\, Pigs on the Wing balance a decidedly un-tribute-like attitude towards the music with precision to detail and a deep understanding of the importance of Pink Floyd’s music in the lives of fans everywhere. \nAmongst the band’s accomplishments\, Pigs on the Wing has in recent years featured full album performances of The Dark Side of the Moon\, Wish You Were Here\, Animals\, and The Wall and was recently ranked the #4 Pink Floyd tribute worldwide. None are bigger fans of the work of Pink Floyd than the members of Pigs on the Wing themselves\, a dedication which has been foremost in the band’s approach since the very beginning. \nPigs on the Wing is: Eric Welder (bass/vocals); Matt Jones ( keys/vocals); Bryan Fairfield (drums); Holly Brooks (vocals); Dave Lindenbaum ( guitar/vocals) Jason Baker ( guitar/vocals); Matt Sulikowski (saxophone). \nReserved seating tickets are $45 per show. SUMMARY:Amelia Day and the Cloves
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, January 10\, 2026 at 7PM\, Gesa Power House Theatre welcomes Amelia Day and the Cloves! This program is supported\, in part\, by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission. This project is also supported in part by Creative West which receives support in part from the National Endowment for the Arts\, a federal agency. \nAmelia Day is a folk rock powerhouse entering the conversation with mainstays like Sheryl Crow\, Hozier\, and Brandi Carlile. Underscoring her carefree melodies with gritty\, confessional lyricism and raw\, heartfelt delivery\, she shares stories of young queer life with an intimacy that makes even new listeners feel familiar. \nRaised in Washington state\, Amelia is deeply influenced by the folk and grunge artists that also found their footing in the overcast forests and slick streets of Seattle (like The Head And The Heart\, Fleet Foxes\, Nirvana\, and again\, Brandi Carlile). Mixing elements of her adolescent mixtapes of folk\, rock\, and jazz\, she creates music that plays freely with genre\, but is still undeniably “Amelia Day”. \nWhether you find Amelia through a live show with her backing band “The Cloves” or her innovative online content\, her humor\, joy\, and authenticity are bound to win you over. Without a label\, manager\, or agent\, Amelia has sold out venues in Seattle\, DC\, and Boston; been played on popular stations like “KEXP” and “107.7 The End”; and even been booked for iconic festivals like “Bumbershoot” and “Capitol Hill Block Party”.
