DESCRIPTION:The Seattle Rock Orchestra (SRO) returns to Gesa Power House Theatre to play the music of Led Zeppelin on Saturday\, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. \nSeattle Rock Orchestra dives deep into Led Zeppelin’s discography\, performing songs from the surprisingly folky Led Zeppelin III\, as well songs from the mature heavy rock of Led Zeppelin IV. SRO utilizes strings\, woodwinds\, brass\, percussion\, and rotating cast of exciting guest vocalists to deliver tribute shows unlike any other. Each SRO show juxtaposes a dynamic plethora of possibilities: the infectious energy of a dance party with a classy night out at the symphony; searing rock solos with intimate orchestral moments of staggering beauty; fan favorite sing-alongs with lesser known ‘deep cuts\,’ all combining to create a fun yet profoundly moving night out that honors the featured artist’s lasting legacy. \nSRO was founded in 2008 by bassist and composer Scott Teske. In the years since\, SRO has racked up an impressive resume that includes collaborations with the likes of Elvis Costello\, Macklemore\, DeVotchKa\, Jeremy Enigk\, Damien Jurado\, D.R.A.M\, Jesse Sykes\, Rosie Thomas\, Allen Stone\, Jason Webley\, Sir Mix-a-Lot\, and members of Big Star\, The Posies\, R.E.M.\, Harvey Danger\, The Long Winters\, Vendetta Red\, Nada Surf & Pearl Jam)\, on stages across Washington State\, including Seattle’s Paramount\, Moore & Neptune Theatres\, Sasquatch Music Festival\, Summer Meltdown Festival\, and Timber Outdoor Music Festival. \nBeer and wine will be available for purchase\, and may be taken into the theater. \nReserved seating tickets are SOLD OUT! To add your name to the Wait List call the box office at 509-529-6500. \nInvite your friends and let them know you are going on Facebook! \n\nSeattle Rock Orchestra Mission Statement\nSeattle Rock Orchestra believes in the power of music to heal\, nourish\, inspire and invigorate. SRO is committed to producing experiences that entertain\, educate\, and foster community\, while continuing the performance and study of orchestral music as a vibrant and vital art form. \nSeattle Rock Orchestra is an Associated Program of Shunpike. SUMMARY:Ímar - Irish/Celtic Band
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents Celtic/Irish band Ímar on Sunday\, March 17 (Saint Patrick’s Day) at 2:00 p.m. \nThe five members of Ímar have been awarded many top prizes in Celtic music\, including nine All-Ireland and eight All-Britain titles. Their sound is mainly traditional Irish music with some contemporary and original compositions. The band were BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners in 2018 and were nominated for “Band of the Year” at the 2018 Scots Trad Music Awards. \n \n★★★★★ “Genuinely jaw-dropping collective virtuosity supplied frills to burn”\n~ The Scotsman \n“Totally invigorating and uplifting”\n~ Bright Young Folk \n \nAdam Brown (bodhrán)\, Adam Rhodes (bouzouki)\, Mohsen Amini (concertina)\, Ryan Murphy (uilleann pipes) and Tomás Callister (fiddle) share a strong background in Irish music – although only Murphy actually hails from Ireland; Rhodes and Callister are from the Isle of Man\, whilst Amini is a Glasgow native\, and Brown originally from Suffolk. These foundations underpin many of Ímar’s distinctive qualities\, in both instrumentation and material. Ímar’s unmistakable synergy\, however\, centers on the overlapping cultural heritage between Scotland\, Ireland and the Isle of Man. All three places once shared the same Gaelic language\, and a similar\, clearly potent\, kinship endures between their musical traditions. \nBeer and wine will be available for purchase\, and may be taken into the theater. No outside food or beverages allowed. \nReserved seating tickets ($28) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. SUMMARY:Live Cinema Series: "La Traviata" - Royal Opera
DESCRIPTION:The 2019 Live Cinema Series continues at Gesa Power House Theatre with a screening of the current Royal Opera House production of La Traviata on Sunday\, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. This production is filmed live in London and rebroadcast internationally to select screens. \n \nRichard Eyre’s beautiful production provides the perfect setting for Giuseppe Verdi’s opera about a courtesan who sacrifices all for love. From the thrill of unexpected romance to a heartbreaking reconciliation that comes too late. Alfredo falls in love in with the courtesan Violetta in glamorous Paris society\, but underneath the surface run darker undercurrents\, leading to a tragic ending. The opera’s wealth of melodies includes the famous Brindisi and the exuberant “Sempre libera” – both showing the lyricism of Italian opera at its most immediately appealing. \nRichard Eyre’s production for The Royal Opera brings out all the emotional color\, from the giddy discovery of love\, through painful confrontation to the inevitable conclusion. Lavish period sets and costumes enhance the reality of a moving story based on true life. \nThe cast of this production includes Ermonela Jaho as Violetta\, Charles Castronovo as Alfredo Germont\, and Plácido Domingo as Giorgio Germont. \nFilmed during a live event\, the Live Cinema Series broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house\, with incredibly detailed close-ups of the performers. \nThis screening runs approximately 3 hours 35 minutes including an onscreen introduction and two intermissions. La Traviata is performed in Italian with English surtitles. \nBeer\, wine\, popcorn\, and snacks will be available for purchase\, and may be taken into the theater. No outside food or beverages allowed. \nReserved seating tickets ($15 Adults\, $10 Students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. SUMMARY:The Moms' Network Comedy Night
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, March 9 for the 4th Annual Comedy Night to benefit the Moms’ Network of Walla Walla. Per tradition\, Comedy Night will open the event at 7:00 p.m. with a Lip Sync Sing-Off then we will laugh the night away with Emily Richman. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. \n \nEmily Richman is a comedian\, a theatre actor and director\, a public speaker\, and an ordained minister. She’s still trying to decide what she wants to be when she grows up. She’s 38\, so she has plenty of time. Emily grew up in the nuclear hills of Eastern Washington State and somewhere around her mid 20’s realized a dream she never knew she had when she went up her first time at a comedy open mic. She has been hooked ever since. Her comedy tackles her experience as a woman living in a fat body\, being single\, online dating\, and some of life’s more difficult experiences\, like medical emergencies\, or losing a loved one. Emily finds humor and hope in things that many would be scared to share with a friend\, let alone into a microphone. She wants to share her experiences and let you know that you’re not alone. Yes\, we’re all really this weird. Isn’t it glorious? \nEmily has featured at the Seattle International Comedy Competition Showcase\, the Idaho Laugh Fest and competed in the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas. \n \nTickets ($45 VIP ticket – includes first beverage and premium seating; $25 reserved seating) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. \nLet your friends know about this event and invite them to join you on Facebook. \nThe Moms’ Network of Walla Walla is a nonprofit based in and serving Walla Walla valley families. Programming ranges from family-friendly events\, ladies’ nights out\, parenting education\, play dates\, and more.

SUMMARY:We Three
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents We Three in concert on Saturday\, January 19 at 7:00 p.m. \nWe Three (siblings Joshua\, Bethany and Manny) warmed hearts with their unforgettable 2018 “America’s Got Talent” audition in which they poured all their emotions into an original song\, which they dedicated to their late mother\, who passed away two years ago after a battle with cancer. They finished the season as semi-finalists and release their self-titled debut album in December. \n \nJoshua uniquely plays the Piano and Drums – sometimes simultaneously\, Manny the Guitar\, and Bethany the Bass. But there are no rules as each can adeptly swap instruments and often sound like a much larger ensemble. A strong lead vocal is complemented by lush harmonies that glide with superlative ease over complex arrangements that appear deliciously simple. We Three’s original songwriting style is positive and purposeful\, with smart lyrics and infectious melodies. \nReserved seating tickets ($35-$30) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. \nBeer and wine will be available for purchase\, and may be taken into the theater. SUMMARY:Live Cinema: "La Bayadere" - Royal Ballet
DESCRIPTION:The 2019 Live Cinema Series begins at Gesa Power House Theatre with a screening of the current Royal Ballet production of La Bayadère on Wednesday\, January 16 at 6:00 p.m. This production is filmed live in London and rebroadcast internationally to select screens. \n \nThis ballet will transport audiences to a world of temple dancers\, vengeful gods\, jealous princesses and noble warriors. \nLa Bayadère tells a story of love\, passion and vengeance. Nikiya\, a temple dancer\, is in love with the warrior Solor but the High Brahmin desires her for himself. When Nikiya spurns him\, the furious High Brahmin tells Princess Gamzatti\, Solor’s fiancée\, that Solor and Nikiya are in love. In revenge\, Gamzatti orders Nikiya to be killed. Solor is haunted by Nikiya’s spirit and dreams of being reunited with her. At his wedding to Gamzatti he finally achieves his desire: the angry gods take vengeance for the death of Nikiya by destroying the temple\, killing the whole wedding party. Solor and Nikiya’s spirits are reunited. \nChoreographer Natalia Makarova brings the 19th-century Russian classic La Bayadère to life in her adaptation of Marius Petipa’s original choreography. La Bayadère was practically unknown to audiences outside Russia until Makarova bought her production to The Royal Ballet in 1989. It has since become a core work in the Company’s repertory. Particular highlights include the Kingdom of Shades scene in Act III\, a showcase for the corps de ballet as they perform arabesques across the moonlit stage. The cast will feature Royal Ballet Principals Marianela Nuñez as Nikiya\, Vadim Muntagirov as Solor and Natalia Osipova as Gamzatti. \nFilmed during a live event\, the Live Cinema Series broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house\, with incredibly detailed close-ups of the performers. \nThis screening runs approximately 3 hours 15 minutes including an onscreen introduction and two intermissions. SUMMARY:Live Cinema: "The Nutcracker" (ballet)
DESCRIPTION:The Live Cinema Series continues at Gesa Power House Theatre with a screening of the current Royal Ballet production of The Nutcracker on Sunday\, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. This production is filmed live in London and rebroadcast internationally to select screens. \n \nThe young Clara creeps downstairs on Christmas Eve to play with her favorite present – a Nutcracker doll. But the mysterious magician Drosselmeyer is waiting to sweep her off on a magical adventure. After defeating the Mouse King\, the Nutcracker and Clara travel through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets\, where the Sugar Plum Fairy treats them to a wonderful display of dances. Back home\, Clara thinks she must have been dreaming – but doesn’t she recognize Drosselmeyer’s nephew? \nPeter Wright’s nigh-on definitive production for The Royal Ballet ranks as one of the most enduring and enchanting versions of The Nutcracker. With its festive period setting\, dancing snowflakes and enchanting stage magic\, Lev Ivanov’s 1892 ballet has become the perfect Christmas entertainment\, with Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous\, sugar-spun music the most recognizable of all ballet scores. \nThis production of The Nutcracker has enthralled audiences for over 30 years since its opening in 1984. It showcases the full energy of the Company\, alongside the emerging talent of young dancers from The Royal Ballet School. The stunning costumes\, numbering around 600 and dating back to the world-premiere\, are revitalized for the show. \nLoosely based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann\, the ballet opens with a lively Christmas party\, its Victorian setting captured in opulent detail by Julia Trevelyan Oman’s designs. Wright’s choreography ingeniously incorporates surviving fragments of the ballet’s original material\, including the sublime pas de deux for the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Prince. But in emphasizing the relationship between Clara and the Nutcracker Prince\, the production also gains a touching subtext of first love. \nThe Royal Opera House cinema broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house\, with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage\, interviews and incredibly detailed close-ups of performers. \nThis screening runs approximately 2 hours 30 minutes including an onscreen introduction and one intermission. SUMMARY:Live Cinema: "Die Walküre" (opera)
DESCRIPTION:The Live Cinema series continues with a screening of the current Royal Opera production of Wagner’s Die Walküre\, with one screening on Sunday\, December 9 at 1:00 p.m. \nDie Walküre (The Valkyrie) is the second opera in Richard Wagner’s epic Der Ring Des Nibelungen (The Ring Cycle). It features several of the Ring’s musical highlights – the sparkling Magic Fire Music and the electrifying Ride of the Valkyries. But among the musical fireworks and Norse mythology\, at the centre of this opera are the unforgettable characters and the complex entanglements between them\, including twins Siegmund and Sieglinde\, and Wotan and his Valkyrie daughter\, Brünnhilde. \n \nDie Walküre will features a stellar international cast including Australian tenor Stuart Skelton (Siegmund) and John Lundgren (Wotan)\, who both make their Royal Opera debuts\, American soprano Emily Magee (Sieglinde) and award winning Swedish soprano Nina Stemme (Brünnhilde). Die Walküre will be conducted by Antonio Pappano Music Director of The Royal Opera House. \nThis is a story of love\, loss and family entanglements. Years before the opera opens\, Wotan\, ruler of the gods\, disguised himself as a mortal man and had twins with a mortal woman who gave birth to twins Siegmund and Sieglinde who were separated during their childhood. Wotan hopes that he can use his son Siegmund to retrieve a gold ring of ultimate power\, which threatens to bring about the Gods’ destruction. He engineers a meeting between Siegmund and Sieglinde\, now unhappily married to Hunding. Initially unaware of each other’s identity\, the siblings fall in love. Wotan intends to protect his incestuous children from Hunding’s wrath\, but his wife Fricka\, guardian of marriage\, forbids him to do this. However\, Wotan’s daughter Brünnhilde\, who is moved by Siegmund’s devotion to Sieglinde\, intervenes in an attempt to save the couple. Wotan kills Siegmund\, fulfilling his promise to Fricka. Brünnhilde manages to save Sieglinde\, now pregnant with Siegmund’s child but cannot escape punishment from Wotan\, who condemns her to mortality and marriage. However\, Wotan’s love for his daughter leads him to grant her a final request: that she be left to sleep encircled by magical fire\, so that only a hero can find and wake her. \nThe Royal Opera House cinema broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house\, with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage\, interviews and incredibly detailed close-ups of performers. \nThis production of Die Walküre is sung in German with English surtitles. \nRuntime: approximately 5 hours\, including an onscreen introduction and two intermissions. Beer\, wine\, popcorn\, and snacks will be available for purchase\, and may be taken into the theater. No outside food or beverages allowed. \nReserved seating: $15 Adults\, $10 Students are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
