SUMMARY:Live Cinema Series: Mixed Program - The Royal Ballet
DESCRIPTION:The 2019 Live Cinema Series continues at Gesa Power House Theatre with a screening of a current mixed ballet program by The Royal Ballet on Sunday\, December 8 at 2:00 p.m. This production was filmed live in London and is rebroadcast to select theaters. \n \nFrom The Royal Ballet’s classical origins in the works of Marius Petipa\, to the home-grown choreographers who put British ballet on the world stage\, this mixed program highlights the versatility of the Company. Petipa’s Raymonda Act III is Russian classical ballet summarized in one act\, full of sparkle and precise technique\, while Frederick Ashton’s Enigma Variations is quintessentially British in every way – from its score by Elgar and period designs by Julia Trevelyan Oman\, to Ashton’s signature style\, the essence of British ballet. Concerto\, Kenneth MacMillan’s fusion of classical technique with a contemporary mind\, completes a program that shows the breadth of The Royal Ballet’s heritage. \nFilmed during a live event\, the Live Cinema Series broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house\, with incredibly detailed close-ups of the performers. The Live Cinema Series is sponsored in part by Shakespeare Walla Walla. \nThis screening has an approximate runtime of 3 hours. Beer\, wine\, popcorn\, and snacks will be available for purchase\, and may be taken into the theater. \nReserved seating tickets ($15 Adults\, $10 Students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. For group ticket sales\, please call 509-876-1662. Let your friends know you are going and invite them to join you on Facebook. \n# # # \nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales? Become a Gesa Power House Theatre Member (highest priority) or sign up for our e-mail list! \n\nThe 2019 Live Cinema Series is sponsored by Shakespeare Walla Walla\, a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that aims to make Shakespeare and theater approachable and entertaining to students in eastern Washington and Oregon.  \n \n\nAre you visiting from out of town? \n\nsave 20% when you mention the “Power House Theatre” promotion or use this link to place your reservation at Courtyard Marriott

SUMMARY:Raiz de 4 - Casa Patas Flamenco
DESCRIPTION:Flamenco Foundation and Conservatory Casa Patas presents “Raíz de 4” at Gesa Power House Theatre on Tuesday\, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. \nCreated by and starring Rafael Peral and Marisa Adame\, “Raíz de 4” was born out of the admiration and esteem for Flamenco by delving into its most primitive roots\, those very origins which evoke the convergence of cultures and the folklore of Spain. The purest styles of flamenco – some of which are: romances (ballads)\, martinetes\, fandangos\, and soleares – are brought into the forefront in a performance made up of a cast of distinguished artists. Song (cante)\, dance (baile)\, guitar (guitarra)\, and percussion (percusión) come together on stage in a most natural fashion\, while they convey a genuine love for this art form and take the audience on a simple and unswerving journey of feelings\, sensations\, and emotions. \n \nThe Casa Patas Flamenco Foundation and Conservatory came into being in the year 2000 with the objective of becoming a center that brings together the activities related to the study\, teaching and promotion of Flamenco: cante (song)\, toque (the guitar and other instruments)\, and baile (dance). To this end\, one of our chief goals is to disseminate this art form (hailed by UNESCO in 2010\, as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity)\, throughout Spain and the rest of the world. The Casa Patas Foundation and Conservatory organizes performances\, master classes\, and intercultural activities in Spain and abroad. A large variety of artists grace the Casa Patas stage every week for a total of more than 300 performances in any given year. In addition\, the Foundation regularly sponsors and coordinates performances at theaters\, festivals and cultural centers throughout the world. \nReserved seating tickets ($36) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. Invite your friends to join you and let them know you are going on Facebook.

SUMMARY:Pigs on the Wing - Pink Floyd "Animals" Tribute
DESCRIPTION:Pink Floyd tribute band Pigs on the Wing returns to Gesa Power House Theatre with a new concert experience on Friday\, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. \nThe new Pigs on the Wing concert will feature a full performance of Pink Floyd’s 1977 album Animals and a second full set highlighting Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters-era catalog. \n \nTracing its roots to a one-off performance in Portland in 2006\, Pigs on the Wing has steadily developed a reputation for delivering a high quality\, high energy take on Pink Floyd’s music steeped in the Northwest’s own rich musical heritage. All of the members of the band are seasoned veterans of the original rock scene and balance a decidedly un-tribute like attitude towards the music with a deep understanding of the precision and importance of Pink Floyd’s music in many fans’ lives. The result is a sound and experience both refreshing in delivery and yet true to the original – something the band believes sets it apart from other Pink Floyd tributes. \nPigs on the Wing has long considered Animals to be their defining experience of Floyd (not to mention the band’s namesake) – and perhaps the album best suited to their own high energy take on Floyd’s catalog. Animals is Pink Floyd at their heaviest and most epic\, weaving complex progressive rock arrangements into a single conceptual vision unlike anything the band had done before. Fans can expect Pigs on the Wing to deliver a precise\, hard-hitting\, true-to-the-music performance of the classic 1977 Animals album melded seamlessly with Pigs on the Wing’s trademark willingness to explore the improvisational side of Pink Floyd’s music – and to let their own musical strengths guide the journey. In the spirit of Pink Floyd\, Pigs on the Wing’s “Animals 2019” tour features an immersive visual dimension including a spectacular redesigned light show and live projection mapping for a concert experience unlike any other. \n \nPigs on the Wing is (from L to R): Eric Welder (bass\, vocals); Pete Galluzzo (sax); Bryan Fairfield (drums); Holly Brooks (vocals); David Lindenbaum (guitar\, vocals); Matt Jones (keys\, vocals); and Jason Baker (guitar\, vocals). \nReserved seating tickets ($28 Adults; $25 Students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
