SUMMARY:The Kingston Trio
DESCRIPTION:The Kingston Trio will perform an acoustic concert at Gesa Power House Theatre on Wednesday\, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. \n \nIn 1957 The Kingston Trio emerged from San Francisco’s North Beach club scene to take the country by storm\, bringing the rich tradition of American folk music into the mainstream for the first time. During the late 50s & early 60s\, the Trio enjoyed unprecedented record sales and worldwide fame\, while influencing the musical tastes of a generation. \nThrough changing times\, the Trio has played on\, remaining popular for a simple reason… great songs that sound as good today as the first time you heard them. And fifty-eight years after “Tom Dooley” shot to the top of the charts\, the Trio is still on the road thirty weeks a year\, bringing back all the great memories and making new ones. \nAll three current members of The Kingston Trio\, Mike Marvin\, Tim Gorelangton and Buddy Woodward\, have intrinsic links to and experience with the original group: Mike is the adopted son of founding member Nick Reynolds\, who was also his musical mentor; Tim\, a close friend since boyhood\, is one of the few musicians outside the Trio who has recorded with Nick Reynolds; and Buddy\, a longtime friend of the Kingston Trio\, was invited in 2002 to perform at their World Folk Music Association’s 45th Anniversary Tribute at the esteemed Birchmere in Alexandria\, VA. Many of their personal memories recall the iconic trio’s performances and journey as folk music made its extraordinary ascent to the pinnacle of popular culture – and the top of the music charts. \nReserved seating tickets ($70-$45) are available online or by calling the Gesa Power House Theatre box office at 509-529-6500. \n\nThis event is a rental by The Kingston Trio. SUMMARY:Walla Walla Choral Society - Our Songs of Joy
DESCRIPTION:The Walla Walla Choral Society will perform a holiday concert on Sunday\, November 27\, at 3:00 p.m.\, and Monday\, November 28\, at 7:00 p.m. \nThe Walla Walla Choral Society presents “Our Songs of Joy”\, a concert set to kick off the Holiday Season in the Walla Walla Valley! This is a program filled with both traditional and popular Holiday music\, guaranteed to bring a smile to all generations. Treat the whole family and shift your holiday spirits into high gear! \nReserved seating tickets ($20 adults\, $17 students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. \nThe Walla Walla Choral Society and its predecessors have delivered the gift of song to our community for more than 117 years. In late 2019\, the Society’s Board completed a new strategic plan that included the creation of a new Children’s Chorus and plans to build enhanced collaborations and mutual support throughout our performing arts community. However\, like so many organizations and businesses\, the pandemic postponed and cancelled in-person rehearsals and concerts. Nevertheless\, many of the Choral Society’s 60+ singers stayed connected throughout 2020 via video rehearsals. In-person rehearsals resumed cautiously in the fall of 2021 and have continued to the present. \nThe Choral Society\, as a vital member of the vibrant local arts culture\, has provided a special opportunity for community members\, children’s choirs\, and other arts organizations to perform with the Choral Society here at the Gesa Power House Theatre. \nGesa Power House Theatre is currently operating at full capacity but will continue to follow the most recent guidance from state and county Departments of Health. Current health and safety guidelines at Gesa Power House Theatre are available online or by calling the box office. \nThis event is a rental by the Walla Walla Choral Society. SUMMARY:A Celtic Christmas with EVERDREAM
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents A Celtic Christmas by EVERDREAM (formerly known as Affinití) on December 8 and 9\, at 7PM. \nEmer Barry (soprano)\, Mary McCague (violin) and Teresa O Donnell (harp)\, from Ireland\, have consistently sold out their show at the Gesa Power House Theatre and so in 2022\, will perform 2 nights\, due to this exceptional demand in the past! \nA Celtic Christmas will feature much loved Celtic and Christmas classics\, including songs by Enya\, music from Riverdance\, some unique Irish Christmas songs\, magical movie songs\, toe tapping reels & jigs\, their chart topping version of O Holy Night and of course\, their now famous rendition of the Habanera\, during which Emer embodies Carmen and gets up to all sorts of fun and frolics with the audience! Everdream will be joined by special guest\, Howard Crosby who\, along with his talented accompanist\, Randy Kaping\, will regale the audience with stories of his Uncle Bing and perform some of his most famous songs. \nEmer\, Mary and Teresa are masters of their instruments\, and between them\, have performed on stage and on television with some of the biggest name acts in the world\, including Michael Bublé\, Il Divo\, Mike Batt\, Rod Stewart and Katherine Jenkins. Aside from their calibre as musicians\, what also sets them apart from other groups is the ease with which they interact with their audiences. Irish charm\, natural wit and banter are all combined in this trio\, ensuring that audiences will feel fully engaged in the show. They are also incredibly glamorous\, so prepare to be dazzled by their stunning dresses! \nFormerly known as Affinití\, the girls have been bringing their A Celtic Christmas show to American audiences since 2014 to great acclaim. Following their sell-out shows in 2019\, their 2020 tour was all lined but then Covid struck\, and like so many other international touring groups\, their plans had to be halted. Because of the 2 year gap in their touring\, Emer\, Mary and Teresa are particularly excited to be returning to the Pacific NorthWest and felt that a fresh start warranted a new name\, and so EVERDREAM was borne out of the pandemic! \nReserved seating tickets ($35) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. \nGesa Power House Theatre is currently operating at full capacity but will continue to follow the most recent guidance from state and county Departments of Health. SUMMARY:Power House Movie: Sam Now
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents a screening of the independent film Sam Now on Wednesday\, January 25\, at 7PM. \nFilmed over an expanse of 25 years\, two brothers go on a 2\,000-mile road trip to solve a family mystery. Shooting on nearly every camera format imaginable\, from hand-developed Super-8 film to Arri 4K\, Sam Harkness and his older half brother Reed use their creative world of fiction filmmaking to dive headfirst into dealing with the issue at hand: Sam’s mom is missing. \nSam’s wetsuit and mask-wearing alter ego\, The Blue Panther\, bounds into frame with youthful energy and a heroic spirit of adventure. But can The Blue Panther save the day? And are these fun-loving brothers actually ready for what lies ahead?\nSolving the mystery of Sam’s mom’s disappearance is only the beginning of their story. \nThe documentary uses a hybrid narrative approach\, drawing from a vast archive of fictional films\, home videos\, intimate family interviews and vérité scenes from over the decades. Sobering revelations blend with playful home movies and vibrant experimental filmmaking by brother and director Reed Harkness. The brothers take a spontaneous road trip in search of answers. We learn of Sam’s mother Jois’ complicated adoption history from Japan. We experience the ripple effects on the Harkness family including Sam’s brother Jared\, father Randy and grandma Doris. And we are there with Sam coming of age from 11 to 36. \n \nSam Now is about growth. The film balances heavy themes and emotional reckonings with buoyant energy and lighthearted spirit. The optimistic teenage Sam we get to know\, with his heart set on finding his mom\, grows into a man whose new hope is to break the cycle of generational trauma. \n\nTickets ($15 Adults\, $10 Students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. \nGesa Power House Theatre is currently operating at full capacity but will continue to follow the most recent guidance from state and county Departments of Health. SUMMARY:Scout Durwood Live
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre will welcome comedian Scout Durwood to the stage on Saturday\, February 4 at 7 p.m. \nScout Durwood Live combines comedy\, music\, storytelling and cabaret into a singular narrative extravaganza including hits from TAKE ONE THING OFF and COMEDY ELECTRONICA such as (I DON’T WANT TO) HOLD UR BABY\, SEXUALLY IMPLICIT\, STEAL UR GIRLFRIEND and more. \nInspired by her formative years as a go-go dancer and burlesque emcee\, Scout’s joyfully irreverent outlook on life embraces Big Tent Queerness as a way of spreading love and unity throughout the land. SUMMARY:Power House Movie: An Evening of Ukrainian Shorts
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theater proudly presents “An Evening of Ukrainian Shorts\,” a benefit screening of short films on Wednesday\, March 1 at 7 p.m. This series is curated by Director of Film Programming Warren Etheredge and brought to you in part by Walla Walla Movie Crush. \nThe next installment of our Power House Movie series\, “An Evening of Ukrainian Shorts\,” brings to your local screen a selection of short films created\, directed\, and produced by Ukrainian filmmakers. In this line-up of deeply moving pieces is  “Diaper Cake” (directed by Anastasia Babenko)\, a short following two young people and their baby having to grow up fast during difficult times\, and “Liturgy of Anti-Tank Obstacles” (directed by Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk)\, a film exploring the lives of sculptors in west Ukraine who previously made religious statues and now fin themselves retraining to build anti-tank obstacles to help fend off the Russian invasion. \nThese short films stand as a testament to the power and resilience of the Ukrainian people no matter the circumstances. As Director Anastasia Babenko puts it\, “Ukraine is not a ruin. It’s a place of love\, power\, and freedom. ‘Life will win over death\, and the light will win over darkness.'” \nAddressing her short film\, Director Anastasia Babenko said\, “‘Diaper Cake’ is a love letter to my sister Katia and to my nephew Zakhar\, and more broadly\, to all Ukrainian women and children. Since the war broke out in my home country\, my perception of the film has changed drastically. Our story is set in a maternity hospital\, and I can’t help thinking about the maternity hospital in Mariupol destroyed by a Russian airstrike on March 9\, 2022. As of April 2022\, at least 217 children were killed\, and 393 children were injured in this war. Those who died in that horrible attack resemble our characters a lot. They were young people at their most intimate\, pure and hopeful\, happy to bring another life into this world. My sister and my five-year-old nephew are now refugees. They had to leave their home like millions of Ukrainians. With the images of destroyed Ukrainian cities in the media\, I would like to show another side of Ukraine.” \nFor an inside look into “Liturgy of Anti-Tank Obstacles\,” watch Director Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk’s statement for Sundance Film Festival 2023. \n \nA portion of this event’s proceeds will be donated to Livyj Bereh\, a volunteer and artist-run charity dedicated to rebuilding houses in war-torn but liberated areas of Ukraine. To see this group in action and to show your support\, visit Livyj Bereh’s instagram profile. \nTickets ($15 Adults\, $10 Students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.

SUMMARY:Little Watts: Leapin’ Louie
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre welcomes Leapin’ Louie to the stage on Sunday\, March 12\, at 2 p.m. This Little Watts Family Series show is sponsored by Walla Walla Valley Honda\, AAUW-Walla Walla\, and United Way of the Blue Mountains. \nLeapin’ Louie uses circus\, cowboy tricks\, puppetry\, and lots of comedy to explore all those amazing critters—including us—who fly. \nIn 500 million years\, powered flight evolved five times: insects\, pterosaurs\, birds\, bats\, and finally\, humans.  Only 66 years after the Wright Brothers invented the airplane\, we landed on the moon.  Louie becomes an eagle on a six-foot unicycle.  An audience member becomes a moon rocket! \n \nDavid Lichtenstein has performed full-time physical theater for 30 years. A master of physical comedy\, trick roping\, whip cracking\, and juggling\, he has performed  one-person Leapin’ Louie shows in 35 different countries around the world\, including many tours each in Europe\, Japan\, and Australia. \nDavid also has worked for two decades with the international relief organization Clowns Without Borders USA\, bringing joy and laughter to people in refugee camps\, conflict zones and places experiencing natural disaster. With CWB\, he has organized and performed on projects bringing professional performers and theater teachers to Chiapas\, Guatemala\, Haiti\, South Africa\, Palestine\, Egypt and more. \nThe show will run about an hour without intermission. \nReserved seating tickets ($12 adults\, $8 Youth 12 and under) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. \nGesa Power House Theatre is currently operating at full capacity\, but will continue to follow the most recent guidance from state and county Departments of Health.
