SUMMARY:Songs of the Nearly Forgotten (stories\, songs\, séance)
DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately\, as the performer is unable to reach Walla Walla due to weather-related flight cancellations\, this event is now canceled. \n\nSongs of the Nearly Forgotten is a one-woman story and song show in which storyteller Katie Anne Mitchell explores themes of isolation\, femininity and finding your place in this world through conducting a séance. That’s right. A séance. \nThrough writing\, through performance\, and through songs Mitchell shares slice-of-life stories that are simply and heartbreakingly human. Her most recent release Alice’s Land draws from folk\, alternative\, country\, and spoken word roots to share small moments in the lives of five women. Five different women who have forgotten themselves\, or forgotten what exists around them\, or have been forgotten by the world. More than forgetting\, though\, this performance is about remembrance. These are the stories that drive that trusty old train from victim to creator\, choo-chooing at every stop in between. \nThis event is part of a new Patio Pulse series\, which is all about enjoying local and regional talent in a safe outdoor setting appropriate for all ages. Folding chairs will be provided\, but patrons are welcome to bring their own chairs. The street will be closed to vehicle traffic. Concessions will be available for purchase. \nSongs of the Nearly Forgotten was previously scheduled as part of the canceled 2021 Summer Stage Festival in August. The Summer Stage Festival will re-launch in August 2022! \n\nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales? Join the +Power Club (highest priority) or sign up for our e-mail list! \n\nSeason Sponsors: \n         \nKAPP-KVEW TV\, Pacific Power\, Northwest Public Broadcasting\, Hayden Homes \nAdditional support provided by:\nWalla Walla County\, Port of Walla Walla\, City of Walla Walla \nEach Coldwell Banker Office is Independently Owned and Operated \n

SUMMARY:Pigs on the Wing - A Tribute to Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here 2021
DESCRIPTION:Pink Floyd tribute band Pigs on the Wing return to Gesa Power House Theatre on their “Wish You Were Here” concert tour on Saturday\, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. \n\nClose your eyes and imagine having the opportunity to experience the soaring majesty of Pink Floyd’s music in an intimate venue. That is the Pigs on the Wing experience: a melding of the epic\, arena scale of Pink Floyd with the visceral experience of being front row at a rock club. \nPigs on the Wing has on occasion been referred to as “the most punk rock of the Pink Floyd tributes” and that is a badge the band wears with unequivocal pride. None are bigger fans of the work of Pink Floyd than the members of Pigs on the Wing\, and while the band approaches the material with the deepest respect for legacy of the music\, they also chart a course suggesting a willingness to push the musical boundaries of a traditional tribute band. \nTracing its roots to a one-off performance in Portland in 2006\, Pigs on the Wing has steadily developed a devoted fanbase and a reputation for delivering a high quality\, high energy take on Pink Floyd’s music\, steeped in the NW’s own rich musical heritage. \nAll members of the band are seasoned veterans of the original NW rock scene and balance a decidedly un-tribute like attitude towards the music with a deep understanding of the precision and importance of Pink Floyd’s music in many fans’ lives. The result is a sound and experience both refreshing in delivery and yet true to the original – something the band believes sets it apart from other Pink Floyd tributes. \nPigs on the Wing’s 2021-2022 feature show is a full album performance of Pink Floyd’s 1975 psychedelic masterpiece Wish You Were Here\, followed by a full second set of carefully curated Roger Waters era Floyd. \nReserved seating ticket ($25 in advance\, $30 at the door) are available online or by calling the Gesa Power House Theatre box office at 509-529-6500. Please review our current health and safety precautions\, including required mask use. Ticket holders will receive an email during the week before the show with any updates. \n\n \nPigs on the Wing is ( L to R): Eric Welder (bass / vocals); Holly Brooks (vocals); David Lindenbaum (guitar / vocals); Pete Galluzzo (sax); Bryan Fairfield (drums); Matt Jones (keys / vocals); Jason Baker (guitar / vocals) \n\nThis event is a rental by Pigs on the Wing. SUMMARY:The High Kings
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents The High Kings in concert on Saturday\, October 16\, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. \n \nThe High Kings are Finbarr Clancy\, Darren Holden\, Brian Dunphy and newest member Paul O’ Brien. The band formed in 2007 when Brian\, Darren\, Finbarr and former member Martin Furey were asked to join a brand new Irish ballad group by David Kavanagh after he had noticed a gap in the market for a band specializing in traditional Irish music. \nIt didn’t take long during their first studio rehearsal for them to realize that the way their individual voices blended together\, they were onto something special. The High Kings play 13 instruments between them creating the unique sound and atmosphere that they still showcase to this day. \nTheir self-titled debut album reached number two on the Billboard World Music chart\, and in 2009\, The High Kings played five consecutive sold out shows in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and licensed their second studio album “Memory Lane” to Universal Music Ireland – signifying the fast trajectory that the band had taken in their short lifespan. “Memory Lane” went platinum only four months after its release. \nOver the past 12 years The High Kings have toured frequently\, and released four studio albums\, two live albums and two DVDs. In 2017\, they released a compilation album “Decade” which celebrated 10 amazingly successful years together and also included five brand new recordings. \nIn 2012 they performed for President Obama in Moneygall\, this led to a personal invitation from the president to perform at the 2012 White House St. Patrick’s Day celebration. They flew directly from London where they had already been the headline act for the Lord Mayor of London’s St. Patrick’s Day concert. In 2015 The High Kings were invited to the Pentagon as guests of General Martin Dempsey\, who is the Chairman of the The Joint Chiefs of Staff. They performed alongside the US Marine Corps band marking another special occasion for the band. \nThe High Kings set the bar extremely high for Irish Folk bands across the world and are widely regarded to be at the forefront of the genre. The High Kings continue to perform to sold out venues across the globe to their ever-growing army of loyal fans that span generations. \n \nThe High Kings are currently on tour to promote their new album – Home from Home. \nReserved seating tickets ($40) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. SUMMARY:The Red Badge Project: Veterans Tell Their Stories
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents The Red Badge Project: Veterans Tell Their Stories on Thursday\, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. \n“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”\n— Maya Angelou \nThe women and men who have served our nation bear this burden daily. The Red Badge Project was established — by former Army Captain Evan Bailey and the actor Tom Skerritt (who is an Air Force veteran) — to lift that weight. \nThe Red Badge Project is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans by sharing storytelling skills with which they can manage the challenges of PTS\, TBIs\, moral injury\, and more. Red Badge offers ongoing\, bi-monthly classes for veterans in the Walla Walla region as well in conjunction with Vet Centers in Seattle\, Federal Way\, Everett\, and Spokane. \nPlease join us on Thursday\, July 8\, as veterans from the Walla Walla group (and from around the state) will present stories they have crafted in Red Badge. If you are in the audience\, you may be the first people outside the classroom or tight-knit circles of friends and families who have heard these tales. This is an honor and an opportunity to thank veterans for their services for embracing both the individuals and their experiences. \nHosted by Red Badge founding faculty member Warren Etheredge\, the evening will run about 90 minutes and will offer an unforgettable experience that just may better lives for those who have protected yours. \nGeneral admission tickets ($15) are available online or at the door. A portion of ticket sales will benefit Red Badge Project. \n \nGesa Power House Theatre will continue to follow the most-recent guidance from state and county Departments of Health in terms of mask use\, etc. Ticketholders will be notified during the week before each event of the current guidelines.\n\nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales? SUMMARY:Live Cinema Series: Kenneth Branagh's "Romeo and Juliet" (2016)
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Live Cinema Series screening of “Romeo and Juliet” on Wednesday\, July 7 at 6:00 p.m. The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company’s modern and passionate staging of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy returns to select theaters for the first time since it was screened live-to-cinemas in 2016. \n \nRomeo and Juliet is a heartbreaking tale of forbidden love where the longstanding feud between Verona’s Montague and Capulet families brings about devastating consequences for two young lovers caught in the conflict. Directed with “seriousness and opulence” (★★★★★The Mail) by Sir Kenneth Branagh and Rob Ashford\, Romeo and Juliet was the fifth play in the inaugural Plays at the Garrick season and was filmed for the big screen in beautiful black and white CinemaScope. Set in 1950s Italy\, this production stars Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) as Romeo and Lily James (Downton Abbey) as Juliet\, with Sir Derek Jacobi as Mercutio and Meera Syal as The Nurse. \nFilmed during a live event\, the Live Cinema Series broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house\, with incredibly detailed close-ups of the performers. The Live Cinema Series is supported by Shakespeare Walla Walla. \nThis screening has an approximate runtime of 3 hours. Beer\, wine\, popcorn\, and snacks will be available for purchase\, and may be taken into the theater. \nGeneral admission tickets ($15 adults\, $10 students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. \nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales? Become a Gesa Power House Theatre Member (highest priority) or sign up for our e-mail list! \n\nThe Live Cinema Series is supported by Shakespeare Walla Walla\, a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that aims to make Shakespeare and theater approachable and entertaining to students in eastern Washington and Oregon.  \n \n\nSeason Sponsors: \n         \nKAPP-KVEW TV\, Pacific Power\, Northwest Public Broadcasting\, Hayden Homes \nAdditional support provided by:\nWalla Walla County\, Port of Walla Walla\, City of Walla Walla \nEach Coldwell Banker Office is Independently Owned and Operated
