SUMMARY:The Kingston Trio
DESCRIPTION:The Kingston Trio will perform an acoustic concert at Gesa Power House Theatre on Wednesday\, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. \n \nIn 1957 The Kingston Trio emerged from San Francisco’s North Beach club scene to take the country by storm\, bringing the rich tradition of American folk music into the mainstream for the first time. During the late 50s & early 60s\, the Trio enjoyed unprecedented record sales and worldwide fame\, while influencing the musical tastes of a generation. \nThrough changing times\, the Trio has played on\, remaining popular for a simple reason… great songs that sound as good today as the first time you heard them. And fifty-eight years after “Tom Dooley” shot to the top of the charts\, the Trio is still on the road thirty weeks a year\, bringing back all the great memories and making new ones. \nAll three current members of The Kingston Trio\, Mike Marvin\, Tim Gorelangton and Buddy Woodward\, have intrinsic links to and experience with the original group: Mike is the adopted son of founding member Nick Reynolds\, who was also his musical mentor; Tim\, a close friend since boyhood\, is one of the few musicians outside the Trio who has recorded with Nick Reynolds; and Buddy\, a longtime friend of the Kingston Trio\, was invited in 2002 to perform at their World Folk Music Association’s 45th Anniversary Tribute at the esteemed Birchmere in Alexandria\, VA. Many of their personal memories recall the iconic trio’s performances and journey as folk music made its extraordinary ascent to the pinnacle of popular culture – and the top of the music charts. \nReserved seating tickets ($70-$45) are available online or by calling the Gesa Power House Theatre box office at 509-529-6500. \n\nThis event is a rental by The Kingston Trio. SUMMARY:The Red Badge Project: Veterans Tell Their Stories
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Credit Union presents The Red Badge Project: Veterans Tell Their Stories at Gesa Power House Theatre on Thursday\, July 14 at 7:00 p.m. \n“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”\n— Maya Angelou \nThe women and men who have served our nation bear this burden daily. The Red Badge Project was established — by former Army Captain Evan Bailey and the actor Tom Skerritt (who is an Air Force veteran) — to lift that weight. \n \n \nThe Red Badge Project is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans by sharing storytelling skills with which they can manage the challenges of PTS\, TBIs\, moral injury\, and more. Red Badge offers ongoing\, bi-monthly classes for veterans in the Walla Walla region as well in conjunction with Vet Centers in Seattle\, Federal Way\, Everett\, and Spokane. \nPlease join us on Thursday\, July 14. The evening will start with an hour of short films\, followed by live presentations by veterans from the Walla Walla group (and from around the state) with stories they have crafted in Red Badge. If you are in the audience\, you may be the first people outside the classroom or tight-knit circles of friends and families who have heard these told. This is an honor and an opportunity to thank veterans for their services for embracing both the individuals and their experiences. \nHosted by Red Badge founding faculty member Warren Etheredge\, the evening will run about 2 hours and will offer an unforgettable experience that just may better lives for those who have protected yours. \nThis event is made possible with the support of Gesa Credit Union. \n“We are thrilled to present The Red Badge Project: Veterans Tell Their Stories at Gesa Power House Theatre\,” says Angie Brotherton\, AVP Community Relations and Impact. “At Gesa\, we are dedicated to doing our part in improving the lives of our veterans\, who have sacrificed so much to serve and protect our country. It is an honor to share in this experience with The Red Badge Project and give our local heroes a safe avenue to discuss and embrace their experiences.” \nReserved seating tickets ($15) are available online or at the door. All profits from ticket sales will be donated to The Red Badge Project. \n \n\n\nGesa Power House Theatre is currently operating at full capacity\, but will continue to follow the most recent guidance from state and county Departments of Health. Current health and safety guidelines at Gesa Power House Theatre are available online or by calling the box office. \nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales? SUMMARY:Power House Movie: "All Ages Show" (documentary)
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Power House Movie screening of the documentary All Ages Show on Wednesday\, July 6\, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. \n \nAll Ages Show is a new documentary film about the history of the music scene in Tri-Cities\, Washington\, that began in the mid-1980s and continues today. While Seattle’s music scene\, was changing the world in the early 90s with “grunge\,” Tri-Cities had its own thriving music scene inspired by Washington DC Hardcore\, a scene that many didn’t think could exist in a smaller community. The film also asks the question: with music now so accessible\, band exposure so saturated\, and record companies on the decline\, could there ever be a thriving music scene again? \nAll Ages Show is directed by Tri-Cities native Tony Moser\, who worked in Los Angeles editing behind-the-scenes featurettes for feature films (The Amazing Spider-Man\, Men in Black 3)\, before moving back to his hometown to work as a video producer for a local media company. Moser will attend the Walla Walla screening. \nReserved seating tickets ($15 adults\, $10 students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. This event will have a total runtime of about two hours. \nClick here to read an interview with Warren Etheredge\, Director of Film Programming at Gesa Power House Theatre. \n\nGesa Power House Theatre is currently operating at full capacity\, but will continue to follow the most recent guidance from state and county Departments of Health. Current health and safety guidelines at Gesa Power House Theatre are available online or by calling the box office. \nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales? Join the +Power Club (highest priority) or sign up for our e-mail list! \n\nPower House Movies are powered by what you can’t get anywhere else in the Walla Walla Valley. Not only do we showcase award-winning festival favorites\, feature-length narratives\, documentaries\, and undiscovered gems\, we pair them with exclusive content from the movie makers themselves – most often in conversation with our Director of Film Programming\, Warren Etheredge. Join us for a night out in our historic venue\, and enjoy a glass of wine with the show. It’s an experience worth leaving the couch for!

SUMMARY:Power House Movie: "Cat Daddies" (documentary)
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Power House Movie screening of the 2021 documentary Cat Daddies on Wednesday\, June 29\, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. \n \nDavid Giovanni is living on the streets of New York\, determined to stay together with his beloved cat Lucky. When he’s finally granted a spot in a transitional housing facility that accepts cats\, the COVID-19 pandemic and a devastating medical diagnosis puts his future together with Lucky in doubt. \nDavid’s journey is interspersed with portraits of eight other “cat dads” from all over the country and some who struggle to navigate the unprecedented events of 2020 with their little furry friends. They include a group of firefighters\, a stunt man\, a truck driver\, a Bay Area tech worker\, a schoolteacher whose cat becomes a viral sensation\, and an actor/Instagram influencer.
