SUMMARY:Pigs on the Wing: The Dark Side of the Moon
DESCRIPTION:Pink Floyd tribute band Pigs on the Wing will return to Walla Walla in concert at Gesa Power House Theatre on Friday\, November 11\, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. \nPigs on the Wing’s 2022-2023 tour will showcase a full performance of the Pink Floyd’s 1973 classic “The Dark Side of the Moon” album in honor of the 50th anniversary of its release. The concert will also include a full second set of Pink Floyd classics performed with all of the intensity and dedication to the music of Pink Floyd fans have come to expect from Pigs on the Wing – along with an immersive visual experience. \n \nPortland\, Oregon based Pigs on the Wing has on occasion been referred to as “the most punk rock of the Pink Floyd tributes” and that is a badge the band wears with unequivocal pride. None are bigger fans of the work of Pink Floyd than the members of Pigs on the Wing\, and while the band approaches the material with the deepest respect for legacy of the music\, they also chart a course suggesting a willingness to push the musical boundaries of a traditional tribute band. \nTracing its roots to a one-off performance in Portland in 2006\, Pigs on the Wing has steadily developed a devoted regional fanbase and a reputation for delivering a high quality\, high energy take on Pink Floyd’s music. All members of the band are seasoned veterans of the original Northwest rock scene and balance a decidedly un-tribute like attitude towards the music with a deep understanding of the precision and importance of Pink Floyd’s music in many fans’ lives. \nThe Pigs on the Wing band members are: Eric Welder (bass/vocals); Matt Jones (keys/vocals); Bryan Fairfield (drums); Dave Lindenbaum (guitar/vocals); Holly Brooks (vocals); Jason Baker (guitar/vocals); Matt Sulikowski (sax). This will be the band’s fourth concert at Gesa Power House Theatre in Walla Walla. \nReserved seating tickets ($45) are available online or by calling the Gesa Power House Theatre box office at 509-529-6500. \n\nThis event is a rental by Pigs on the Wing. SUMMARY:The Kingston Trio
DESCRIPTION:The Kingston Trio will perform an acoustic concert at Gesa Power House Theatre on Wednesday\, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. \n \nIn 1957 The Kingston Trio emerged from San Francisco’s North Beach club scene to take the country by storm\, bringing the rich tradition of American folk music into the mainstream for the first time. During the late 50s & early 60s\, the Trio enjoyed unprecedented record sales and worldwide fame\, while influencing the musical tastes of a generation. \nThrough changing times\, the Trio has played on\, remaining popular for a simple reason… great songs that sound as good today as the first time you heard them. And fifty-eight years after “Tom Dooley” shot to the top of the charts\, the Trio is still on the road thirty weeks a year\, bringing back all the great memories and making new ones. \nAll three current members of The Kingston Trio\, Mike Marvin\, Tim Gorelangton and Buddy Woodward\, have intrinsic links to and experience with the original group: Mike is the adopted son of founding member Nick Reynolds\, who was also his musical mentor; Tim\, a close friend since boyhood\, is one of the few musicians outside the Trio who has recorded with Nick Reynolds; and Buddy\, a longtime friend of the Kingston Trio\, was invited in 2002 to perform at their World Folk Music Association’s 45th Anniversary Tribute at the esteemed Birchmere in Alexandria\, VA. Many of their personal memories recall the iconic trio’s performances and journey as folk music made its extraordinary ascent to the pinnacle of popular culture – and the top of the music charts. \nReserved seating tickets ($70-$45) are available online or by calling the Gesa Power House Theatre box office at 509-529-6500. \n\nThis event is a rental by The Kingston Trio.
