SUMMARY:Power House Movie: "Since I Been Down" (documentary)
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents a free Power House Movie screening of the 2020 documentary film Since I Been Down on Wednesday\, February 2\, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. \n \nMeet Kimonti Carter. Former president and current member of an over 40-year Washington State prisoner-initiated program\, the Black Prisoners’ Caucus. At 34\, Kimonti founded TEACH (Taking Education and Creating History)\, a remarkably innovative prisoner education program. \nKimonti and a group of his peers maneuver through a non-negotiable pathway to joining gangs as early as 11-years-old. This is a community profoundly impacted by the city’s disinvestment in housing\, education\, and employment as well as our policies in the 1990’s. In 1993\, the voters of Washington State allowed a “three strikes” law to pass that sent criminals to prison for life. What has this legacy of captivity done to them\, and to their communities? \nSince I Been Down is told by the people who have lived these conditions\, and intimate stories from interviews are brought to life through archival footage\, cinema verité discussions\, masquerade\, and dance. The film explores why children commit violent crime and how these children – now adults – are breaking free from their fate by creating a model of justice that is transforming their lives\, our humanity and a quality of life for all our children. \nAdmission is free. Please reserve your seat ahead of time to avoid confusion. This event will have a total runtime of about 2 hours. \nPlease review our current health and safety precautions\, including required mask use. Ticket holders will receive an email during the week before the show with any updates. \nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales? Join the +Power Club (highest priority) or sign up for our e-mail list! \n\nPower House Movies are powered by what you can’t get anywhere else in the Walla Walla Valley. Not only do we showcase award-winning festival favorites\, feature-length narratives\, documentaries\, and undiscovered gems\, we pair them with exclusive content from the movie makers themselves – most often in conversation with our Director of Film Programming\, Warren Etheredge. Join us for a night out in our historic venue\, and enjoy a glass of wine with the show. It’s an experience worth leaving the couch for! \n\nSeason Sponsors: \n     \nWalla Walla Union-Bulletin\, Northwest Public Broadcasting\, Pacific Power\, Hayden Homes \nAdditional support provided by:\nWalla Walla County\, Port of Walla Walla\, City of Walla Walla \nEach Coldwell Banker Office is Independently Owned and Operated

SUMMARY:Peter Antoniou - Psychic Comedian
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents Psychic Comedian Peter Antoniou on Saturday\, February 5\, at 7:00 p.m. \nFresh off of his star-making run as a semi-finalist on the 2021 season of America’s Got Talent where he revealed never before known information about Sofia Vegara’s engagement among other “wow” moments\, Peter Antoniou is on his first US tour\, giving the public\, and Walla Walla\, a chance to experience what they saw on television for themselves! \n \n“I’m so excited to get out and meet people in Walla Walla and show them what I can do\,” says Antoniou. “It’s easy to dismiss the things you see on TV as being set-up or having people in on it\, but giving people a chance to experience the mind reading for themselves is my favorite thing to do. And having the opportunity to tour America is a dream come true!” \nCombining comedy and a stunning ability to read minds\, Peter will perform his full show\, which involves members of the audience in mind reading demonstrations. Peter knows what is in your brain. Think of a question: it can be silly or serious; about your past\, your present\, or your future; it could be about your love life\, or even just what color your underwear is. It doesn’t matter what it is\, just think of it and Peter will look inside your mind and give you the answer. Part comedy\, part mind reading\, this fully interactive show will leave you asking\, is your mind safe? \nReserved seating tickets ($30 adult\, $20 student) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. \nPlease review our current health and safety precautions\, including required mask use. Ticket holders will receive an email during the week before the show with any updates. \n\nWant to receive early notice and access to ticket sales?
