DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre welcomes Leapin’ Louie to the stage on Sunday\, March 12\, at 2 p.m. This Little Watts Family Series show is sponsored by Walla Walla Valley Honda\, AAUW-Walla Walla\, and United Way of the Blue Mountains. \nLeapin’ Louie uses circus\, cowboy tricks\, puppetry\, and lots of comedy to explore all those amazing critters—including us—who fly. \nIn 500 million years\, powered flight evolved five times: insects\, pterosaurs\, birds\, bats\, and finally\, humans.  Only 66 years after the Wright Brothers invented the airplane\, we landed on the moon.  Louie becomes an eagle on a six-foot unicycle.  An audience member becomes a moon rocket! \n \nDavid Lichtenstein has performed full-time physical theater for 30 years. A master of physical comedy\, trick roping\, whip cracking\, and juggling\, he has performed  one-person Leapin’ Louie shows in 35 different countries around the world\, including many tours each in Europe\, Japan\, and Australia. \nDavid also has worked for two decades with the international relief organization Clowns Without Borders USA\, bringing joy and laughter to people in refugee camps\, conflict zones and places experiencing natural disaster. With CWB\, he has organized and performed on projects bringing professional performers and theater teachers to Chiapas\, Guatemala\, Haiti\, South Africa\, Palestine\, Egypt and more. \nThe show will run about an hour without intermission. \nReserved seating tickets ($12 adults\, $8 Youth 12 and under) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. \nGesa Power House Theatre is currently operating at full capacity\, but will continue to follow the most recent guidance from state and county Departments of Health. DESCRIPTION:On March 23\, 2023\, at 7 p.m.\, Tel Aviv Wind Quintet will perform “Peter and the Wolf” at the Gesa Power House Theatre. As part of the Little Watts Family Series\, this event is sponsored in part by Walla Walla Valley Honda and AAUW-Walla Walla. \nThe Tel Aviv Wind Quintet is one of the most successful chamber music ensembles in Israel today. The group was established in 2009 by five young Israeli musicians seeking to expose a broader audience to the wonderful wind repertoire\, as well as commissioned works. By combining music with other art forms such as theater and movement\, the Quintet also aims to build upon and expand the existing concert format. \n \n“A charming chamber arrangement of ‘Peter and the Wolf’. The Tel Aviv Wind Quintet members\, directed by Ari Teperberg\, have created a new format… Five players are responsible for the solo parts\, the orchestral playing\, and even the narration\, the story telling\, and the acting. This format works particularly well thanks to the talents of Quintet… the excellent playing of this group was no surprise\, but the graceful and humorous theatrical presentation made this show especially enjoyable.”\n—Amir Mandel\, ‘Weekly recommendation’\, Ha’aretz\, November 25\, 2020 \nThe Quintet is supported by the Israeli Ministry of Culture.
