DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre welcomes the 25th Anniversary American Tour of International Guitar Night to the stage on Wednesday\, February 5\, 2025 at 7 p.m. This show will feature Germany’s Lulo Reinhardt\, Britain’s Alexandra Whittingham\, Democratic Republic of The Congo’s Niwel Tsumbu\, and Germany’s Sönke Meinen. Additionally\, this programming is supported in part by the Creative West and the National Endowment for the Arts. \nInternational Guitar Night is the world’s premier touring guitar festival\, each show bringing together the most interesting and innovative acoustic guitarists to exchange musical ideas in a public concert setting. For each tour\, IGN founder Brian Gore brings together a new cast of guitar luminaries for special evenings of solos\, duets\, and quartets that highlight the dexterity and diversity within the world of acoustic guitar. Brian founded IGN in 1995 as a forum for the world’s finest guitarists/composers to play their latest original songs and share musical ideas and talent with their peers. \n\n\nLulo Reinhardt (Guitar Virtuoso with Latin and Gypsy Swing): hailing from the renowned Reinhardt family\, Lulo is a guitar virtuoso celebrated for his Latin Swing style deeply rooted in Sinti tradition. From his early years influenced by his father’s eclectic record collection to leading bands like I Gitanos and his own Latin Swing Project\, Lulo’s journey has been marked by musical exploration and cultural outreach. With numerous albums\, international collaborations\, and ventures like documenting Sinti and Roma migration\, Lulo continues to innovate. \n\n\nAlexandra Whittingham (British Classical Guitarist): a prodigious classical guitarist and composer\, Alexandra emerged from Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music with accolades and a distinctive style. Her debut album “My European Journey” not only topped charts but also spotlighted lesser-known composers of the nineteenth century\, blending passion for music history with virtuosity. With a massive online following and performances worldwide\, including prestigious venues and orchestral collaborations\, Alexandra’s star continues to rise. \n\n\nNiwel Tsumbu (Guitar Virtuoso and Singer): a Congolese-born guitarist based in Ireland\, Niwel defies musical boundaries with a fusion of jazz\, classical\, rock\, and African rhythms. From his early exposure to diverse musical traditions to collaborations with global icons like Rhiannon Giddens\, and Grammy-winning performances\, Niwel’s virtuosic guitar work and emotive compositions captivate audiences worldwide. His fluidity across genres and instruments solidify his place as a musical trailblazer\, promising unforgettable performances in this upcoming U.S. tour with the International Guitar Night. \n\nSönke Meinen (Guitarist\, Composer and Storyteller): an acclaimed guitarist\, Sönke transcends conventions with his one-man guitar performances\, blending folk\, classical\, pop\, and jazz influences into a captivating musical journey.
