DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre presents “May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers” – screening one night only to theaters nationwide – on Tuesday\, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. \nThis screening is sponsored in part by Henry Earl Estates and Russell Creek Winery and with the generous support of Bill Dunham and Heather Schermann. \n \n \nFilmed with extraordinary access over more than two years\, “May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers” is a deeply intimate and revealing look at the Grammy Award-nominated North Carolina band fronted by Seth and Scott Avett. \nDirectors Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio chart the Avett Brothers’ decade-and-a-half rise\, while chronicling their 2016 collaboration with famed producer Rick Rubin on the critically-acclaimed album “True Sadness\,” released on American Recordings/Republic Records. Using the recording process as a backdrop\, the film depicts a lifelong creative partnership put to the test as band members undergo marriage\, divorce\, parenthood\, illness\, and the challenges of the music business. RSVP on Facebook \n# # # \n\nAbout the Filmmakers:\nAs a producer\, writer and director\, Judd Apatow is responsible for some of the most well-known and beloved Hollywood films and television series of the last 20 years. Apatow’s films include “This is 40”\, “Trainwreck”\, “Bridesmaids”\, “Step Brothers”\, “Knocked Up”\, “Talladega Nights”\, “The 40-Year Old Virgin”\, and “Anchorman”\, among many others. Apatow’s work has won numerous awards including a Primetime Emmy Award\, a Hollywood Comedy Award\, and an AFI Award for “Bridesmaids”. \nMichael Bonfiglio is an Emmy-nominated director\, producer\, writer\, and camera operator. He recently directed “From the Ashes\,” a film about the coal industry which premiered at the 2017 TriBeCa Film Festival\, and “Doc & Darryl\,” which he co-directed with Judd Apatow for ESPN’s acclaimed “30 for 30” series. His previous “30 for 30” film “You Don’t Know Bo: The Legend of Bo Jackson” is the highest-rated documentary in the network’s history.
